Graduated in 1987 from Leningrad State University law school; in 1990 received a Ph.D. in law, also from Leningrad State University, (majoring in law).
1990-1999, assistant professor at Leningrad State University; concurrently, 1990-1995 served as adviser to the Chairman of the Leningrad City Council and expert consultant to the St. Petersburg Mayor's Committee for External Relations, which was headed by Vladimir Putin.

Oct 2003- Nov2005, President Putin appointed Medvedev as Head the Presidential Administration.
Nov 2005, appointed First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russia Federation.
Dec 2007, President Putin announced Medvedev as his chosen successor.
Mar 2, 2008, elected President of Russia with 70.2% of the vote.
7 May, 2008, inaugurated as the President of Russia.
