Labour Party of Georgia
Established and registered in 1995.
The Party stands for free public health service, education and social service for the poor.
In 2003 Parliamentary elections the Party gained 15% of the vote but in 2004 Parliamentary re - elections (2003 elections results were cancelled by the Supreme Court) the Labour Party gained only 6.01% of the vote and did not take any seats by a proportional system. Still, the Party returned 2 seats by a majority system. Such a failure is mainly explained by the fact that the Labour Party did support the Rose Revolution in November 2003.
Currently, the Party goes through a difficult time – its popularity went down significantly and many of its members left the Party.
