Roland Nash is a Managing Director, Co-Head of Equity Product Group and Chief Strategist at Renaissance Capital. Mr. Nash is responsible for the Equity Product Group's strategy and business development.
In 2003, Renaissance Capital's research team led by Roland Nash was voted the No. 1 research house in Russia in the 2003 'Institutional Investor All-Europe Research Team' survey. In addition, the team was also awarded third place for EMEA strategy. In 2002, Mr. Nash was rated as Russia's top investment analyst by Thomson Financial in its Extel Survey.
Having worked in Moscow since 1994, Mr Nash has unparalleled experience in analyzing Russia's economy and the equity market. His experience advising the Russian government and in leading teams involved with judging the credit of sub-federal entities and companies provides him with the background needed for a detailed understanding of the Russian equity market. That, together with his familiarity with the Russian stock universe gained during five years working in the Renaissance research team, puts him in a unique position to further develop Russia's leading research team, and to build on that foundation to develop the equity product group in the rapidly evolving Russian equity universe.
Prior to joining Renaissance Capital, Mr Nash worked for two years as a senior economic expert at the Russian European Center for Economic Policy (RECEP), where he was involved in advising the Russian government on economic policy. During that period he was the author of “Russian Economic Trends”, Russia's leading macroeconomic journal, and acted as advisor to the Ministry of Economy and the Working Center for Economic Reform. He went on to lead a group of economists within the RECEP organization. Since leaving RECEP, he has maintained close contact with the Russian government and has acted as an unofficial advisor to the governments of both Sergei Kiriyenko in 1998, and Vladimir Putin from 1999.
In 1997, he led the Renaissance Capital credit research department where he headed a team working on providing a credit analysis of Russia's regions and corporates. He has acted as a senior advisor on a number of projects involving the restructuring of regional economies for the World Bank and the European Union. Mr Nash attended Balliol College, Oxford University, where he received a BA in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics.
